Neuberger Museum

Pollock, Jackson, Number 8, 1949
By Ethan V.
On April 11, 2012 the entire Fourth grade in the Purchase School went to the Neuberger museum at Suny Purchase. We got to witness a real Jackson Pollock painting. It’s much better in real life to see a painting because on TV or on the computer it looks un-real, but when you see the painting in real life you can see the brush strokes and the thickness of the canvas, so you know that the painting is real. All around, we had a great time!

Stuart Davis, Barber shop, 1930
By Nick G.
We got to go to the Neuberger museum in Suny Purchase. We got to see amazing paintings such as Stuart Davis’ Barber shop, where he used primary colors and a lot of shadowing. My favorite was Jackson Pollock because I loved #8 because it was awesome to see the real painting in person, not on the computer. I also loved the shopping carts sculpture outside. It was twirling in circles. I had the best time ever. I hope I can go back another time.

    1. Thanks, Mrs. Sweetb! The 4th graders had a ball -- the docent-led discussions & activities were creative, interactive and very engaging. What a memorable way to view art, and take a museum tour. Bravo!
